FnaticMSI is proud to venture in Quake Live with an all-star team. We have been long supporters of deathmatch games with players such as Vo0, 2GD and Ztrider. Ever since the release of Quake Live we have been looking for the perfect team to support.

We are extremely delighted to have found that perfect team and we hereby welcome David "deus" Kinnaird, Pierre-Emeric "link1n" Portier, Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira and Alessandro "Stermy" Avallone. We have to note that Alessandro and FnaticMSI will be evaluating the relationship ongoing, starting at QuakeCon. As this relationship develops, both sides will then make a decision on the future.

All four players have great history within the Quake series. Pierre-Emeric has always been a top contender at the ESWC events, Alessandro is one of the living legends of Quake. He has competed in the CPL World Tour and has won various titles.

Sebastian is more of a new school player, but has already made his mark on the scene with a second place at the ESWC Masters of Athens. David, who has already played for Fnatic in the Quake 4 hay days, is known for his great team play, winning the Eurocup in 2005 and getting two third placements at QuakeCon.

FnaticMSI Quake Live consists of..

  • David "deus" Kinnaird
  • Pierre-Emeric "link1n" Portier
  • Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira
  • Alessandro "Stermy" Avallone

The team will be heading over to Dallas, USA right now as they are attending QuakeCon. FnaticMSI.QL look to take first at the Capture The Flag team tournament and the Masters 1v1 tournament.

For the CTF tournament, Magnus "fox" Olsson will be acting as merc for the team. Magnus will be playing for his own organization, LowLandLions in the duel tournament.

On the next pages, you can find statements and short introductions to the players.

On this page you can find statements from Pierre-Emeric "link1n" Portier, Alessandro "Stermy" Avallone and FnaticMSI managers Sam Mathews and Neil Kirk.

Here is what Pierre-Emeric said about QuakeCon:
"I'm really looking forward for the tournament. I have never been to a QuakeCon event before, but I've seen a lot of pictures and videos about it and it looks very nice. I really want to play against the Americans and show them that Europe is definitely present! I hope the tournament will run smooth, we'll see! I'm going to bring my camera, so I'll try to make something sweet afterwards!"

Alessandro spoke joyful:
"I'm really happy to be part of this team - Sam and I and the fnatic organization have been long time friends, competing and travelling together for different tournaments around the World. I always had a lot of respect for fnatic and having such a talented squad at Quakecon will definitely make a big impact on the tournament. I can't wait for the tournament to start!

Sam Mathews, FnaticMSI Managing Director:
A little known fact is that back in December of 2004 Stermy was very very close to joining the Fnatic organisation.. ever since then we have respected and been friends with the almighty and loveable Italian powerhouse. He is a remarkable player who not only has the passion and the skill but also oozes professionalism in everything he does. He is a player all players should look up to as a role model, someone who understands the business side of gaming and aspects regarding that which are important, and also is fully focused on performing and doing the job he has been hired to do! I am extremely proud to have stermy finally under Fnatic!"

Neil Kirk, FnaticMSI Business Development Manager:
"One of the most discussed topics recently has been QuakeLive, since the explosion during late 2008 and early 2009, to the invitation-only closed and now open beta. The community is one of the most passionate and excited with a great number of organisations picking up players and teams.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Fnatic is committed to the growth of video gaming as an Electronic Sport, continues to be at the forefront of this ever expanding and maturing market, especially with our past in the Quake series, we now are delighted to be able to sign a number of players, all needing no introduction; David ‘Deus’ Kinnaird, Sebastian ‘Spart1e’ Siira, Pierre-Emeric ‘linkin’ PORTIER and Alessandro ‘Stermy’ Avallone! All will be attending QuakeCon from August 13 – 16 in Dallas, TX, and a chance to walk away with their share of one of the richest prize pools in professional gaming! We are delighted to welcome the players as we hope for prosperous times ahead."

Hi, could you tell us a bit more about yourself?
Well, I'm a regular guy, what can I say! I just ended up studying, so now I'm looking for a job. I finished a "video-making" studies, and it went pretty well. I intend to work for the French television, and why not abroad? We'll see! :D

How is it to join FnaticMSI?
It's very pleasant, I always have been a fan of the fnatic players, so now being one of them is very cool.

Have you ever been to a QuakeCon event before?
No never. I'm looking forward to see how it goes!

What are your expectations of QuakeCon?
I've no idea! I just want to have a nice tournament, and try to win the CTF tournament with my mates of course.

And the ESL Pro/Am Tournament, what are your thoughts on that and the ESL support to Quake Live?
I think it's a very good idea, it means that QuakeLive is going to grow and grow, I'm glad with that.

What does Quake Live need to become a big eSports title? Any new features or sorts of attention?
Yes, definitely. They really need to add the "common" stuff. It took too long to have proper brightskins, but now it's added. We need a GTV feature as well, the netcode has to be changed in my opinion, it's very bad as it is now. There are also other stuff, but I don't have them in mind at the moment.

Hi, could you tell us a bit more about yourself?
Hi my name iss David. I have been playing Quake on and off for around 6 years or so. Right now I'm playing poker and tennis for a living and I've been doing this for awhile now.

How is it to join FnaticMSI?
Yeah, feels really good! I know fnatic pretty well from being in the team for Quake 4. I have nothing but good things to say about the team and all the mangers.

Have you ever been to a QuakeCon event before? If so, how did it go?
Yeah, I'v been to Quakecon twice before for CTF, which I'm going for again this year. We got 3rd twice in a row, so maybe we can go two better and get first with fnatic.

What are your expectations of QuakeCon?
Well, I'm hoping the admins will be more understanding this year, as past years it seems hard for them to run a bath, never mind a tourney.

As for the team; we are hoping to get first, but we just wish we had more time to play.. We have never played with each other, so lets just hope we can do our best.

And the ESL Pro/Am Tournament, what are your thoughts on that and the ESL support to Quake Live?

Yeah, the guys over there are doing a great job, they are going to be running 2v2 CTF/TDM cups ones as well as the duel ones so I'm sure you will see a lot of the fnatic players playing and winning "I hope"!

What does Quake Live need to become a big eSports title? Any new features or sorts of attention?
Well, that I'm not sure of, but right now there is quite a lot of players playing. I'm sure ID have more plans coming up and remember the game is still beta, so once it goes live I'm sure it will get bigger again.

Hi, could you tell us a bit more about yourself?
I'm a funny guy enjoying life as much as I can. Now guess why people call me SpartyParty!

How is it to join FnaticMSI?
Joining a big team like Fnatic feels really good. Just knowing they will always be there for me, feels great.

Have you ever been to a QuakeCon event before?
Nope, first time 2009. Hoping for the luck to be with me this time!

What are your expectations of QuakeCon?
I want to place top 3 in both duel and CTF. But, the praccing didn't go as I wanted it to go. I will be happy with top 5 placement in 1on1.

And the ESL Pro/Am Tournament, what are your thoughts on that and the ESL support to Quake Live?
Don't know enough of ESL Pro/Am Tournament to talk about it. But, it's great they support QuakeLive!

What does Quake Live need to become a big eSports title? Any new features or sorts of attention?
Good streaming of games. Alot of tournaments. Maybe the possibility to chat while watching streams.

Have you ever been to a QuakeCon event before?
Yes, Quakecon 2006 and 2007.

What are your expectations of QuakeCon?
I have practiced a lot to get in a really good shape for this event in both 1v1 and ctf. I`ll do my best to make all the people who supports me, my family, my personal sponsors and my team proud.e.

And the ESL Pro/Am Tournament, what are your thoughts on that and the ESL support to Quake Live?
Pretty happy to see ESL supporting a 1v1 game again and hopefully we will see more and more organizations doing the same!

What does Quake Live need to become a big eSports title? Any new features or sorts of attention?
I think QuakeLive already has a lot of potential. We got a strong community and a lot people working hard to make this game as big as possible. If We keep doing what we are doing now, if we keep supporting the game like now, it will become a great platform for 1v1 deathmatch tournaments.
