gamescom 2009 is over and here comes my blog for the second day.

The day started with the team almost having no problems to get on their feet. The first match of the day, FnaticMSI against mousesports, was scheduled to start at 09:45am, so we were slowly waking up at around 7:30am. After everybody was in the bath and ready to go, we headed to the location.

As the convention opened its doors at 9am for the public and we already arrived earlier, I decided it was a great opportunity to check some of the other halls and play some Fifa 2010. It is funny as always and comes with improved graphics, but the few minutes I played are not enough to review the game. I will beat Lloyd and Roald anyway.

After this, I returned to Hall 9 for the Counter-Strike match. We lost to mousesports as you all know and did not play well. Some people (Hi Binteh!) claim that the team celebrated the eSports Team of the Year Award too much, but personally I don´t think this was the main reason. mouz were simply stronger this day, no more, no less. This is sports, you can not win every match. I am sure that the team will be regaining old strength at the upcoming events.

The other Semi Final saw SK-Gaming taking on mTw. SK had to play with face as zet missed his plane. mTw on the other hand just returned from their holidays and were not in their best shape either according to team manager guddo. Three maps and two overtimes were needed in the end to determine mTw as the second finalist.

mousesports took the first map de_nuke after a strong performance as CT, while mTw won their choice de_train. The Grand Final needed a third map which was de_dust2. mTw started as CT and won several rounds, but it turned out to be not enough. Pushed by the crowd, the Germans eventually managed to win the match and $4,000 prizemoney, while the other attendees mTw, FnaticMSI and SK-Gaming received $2,000.

As there was no match for the third place, the loss against mouz was the only match for FnaticMSI today. We met up with Sam, Spartie and Thomas from MSI to shoot some pics for our title sponsor. Spartie was handed out his own MSI Laptop, so he is now free to practise wherever and whenever he wants. Sam had to leave shortly after in order to get his flight. Spartie and me also left on Sunday, the CS team is spending one more day in Cologne.

While I was watching the complete Grand Final, the team chose to go back to our hotel. When I later arrived there, the guys were already sitting together with their countrymen from SK and joking. Unfortunately, I of course did not understand any of their jokes. Looks like I have to learn some Swedish!

Hope the coverage was okay and thanks for reading my blog.

Cheers,

Andreas
