The first day of our adventure at IEM Season 4 finals is over and we just got back to the hotel after having a late night dinner at McDonalds.
It has been a long day spending more than 12 hours at the Cebit exhibition so we are really brain drained after all the intense matches we played.
Before we hit bed I thought I might leave my opinion of the problems and conflicts we had in the first games of the tournament.
We left our guest house at 8am, the scheduled time for our pickup, but the shuttle arrived an hour later so we all felt pretty cold and upset being left outside in the coldness of a spring morning here in Hannover.
We regained some strength and spirit with a quick breakfast at Cebit before entering the progamers area to start setup for the matches.
ESL has told us we would play oXmoze in the first game so all our focus laid on this game and they even let us do the map pick before informing us they needed to swap our opponent to the American team EG.
A second map pick was done, now against EG, and train was the map which felt fine for us even that we know they got good tactics and snipers.
We started out pretty bad losing the important first pistolround but managed to get the C4 planted the next round which made a buy possible on the third round which we won.
From here everything looked very good and we scored 9 rounds before changing to CT which is not bad at all considering you lost the pistolround.
EG decided to rush the inner bombsite which proved to be the right thing to do, catching me and Threat a bit off guard, and from here they started to play really well finding themselves with the lead 6-1.
At this stage we really felt like the upcoming round, round number eight, was very important to have a shot on the victory. After a strong performance on the yard we managed to win that round which boosted our confident but more important, put EG in a situation where they need to win the next round to not being forced doing and eco-round which literally would let us in the game.
With the score 6-2, and the most important round of the match ahead, we felt really pumped and knew this was the moment we need to master in order to win the game and the round opened up really good for us leaving EG with only one man left, lurppis, without the bomb.
With only 45 seconds left of the round we felt very comfortable playing this situation but the network started to freeze for us and mTw who was sharing the section with us. Usually those network issues affects both teams on the server but EG didn´t had these lags and lurppis could literally just run around on the server by himself picking us off one by one due to the lag. And since the network went down for us our voice communication got disconnected so we had no way communicating with each others during this frustrating round.
After Lurppis winning that round we had to pause that gamed and called for the admin who just stated its out of their control and since the server didnt go down the game should just continue. The only thing they could do for us was to contact EG and make them agree on a replay of the previous round with startmoney 5000$, which would be very fair for both teams since both team were low on cash and both them and us knew that round would not have gone their way with Lurppis 1on3 with the bomb protected by us.
EG was not willing to replay that round claiming they dont want to give away rounds they have already won despite knowing we had no chance of playing that round as we normally would due to the network issues.
Since EG disagreed on a replay of that important round there was nothing more to do than continue the match and with the economy we had after that terrible round, there was no way for us coming back and we lost with 18-12.
EG failed to obtain fair play this time, and I have hard time respecting them as much as I used to do because of this.
Fortunately for us, we started to play really well after this match, winning the remaining round making it to the relegation which starts tomorrow.
