Before accepting a job within a multimedia company who specialise in games developement i have never considered what the chances are for an Indie Dev to make and sell a successful game!
If you are like how i used to be you will find yourself being drawn to all those photorealistic and highly advertised games like Uncharted, Modern Warfare, Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo. However i forget how many hours of my life have been devoted to playing those web based 'pick up and play' games made my small independent companies.
What i wonder is how will Indie Devs get noticed? There is one example of an Indie Dev making it big without help from the big guys, and that is 'World of Goo'. What was their secret? how can others follow in their footsteps?

The joy of being an Indie Dev is simply that you tend not to have big publishers pulling the strings, or the pressure of having to hit X Y and Z target audiences. One of the key focuses of being Indie is to pick a gap in the market and hit it hard, generally doing something relatively simple but stupidly addictive! It might not ever make the millions that games such as Halo might, but it gets their names out there, easily and very quickly.
