FnaticMSI says goodbye to spart1e and strenx

Following ESL's announcement of the games for the next season of Intel Extreme Masters, Fnatic has had to assess its current squads. With Quake Live being left out by the German organization, the last major tournament circuit supporting the game has closed its doors on the ID Gaming title.

And so will Fnatic. With the general decline in both online and offline tournaments, we have agreed to release both Sebastian 'spart1e' Siira and Kévin 'strenx' Baéza ahead of QuakeCon in order to let them find a new team which could send them to the event.

The decision has been a tough one to make as both Sebastian and Kévin have been loyal and dedicated players in Fnatic, as well as good friends and companions to everyone around them. We here at FnaticMSI would like to thank both Sebastian and Kévin for some unforgettable moments, as well as for their professional and solid performances through the years.

Asked about his time in FnaticMSI has been, Sebastian gave the following statement:

Two years in FnaticMSI, two great years. During this time I learnt alot. Not only about Quake, and Esport. But also other things around like promotion. I will never forget these two years. But life has to go on. Thanks FnaticMSI for this time.

His French compatriot Kevin quoted the wish to go to QuakeCon as one of the main reasons to leave FnaticMSI:

As Fnatic doesn't send us to Quakecon, Spartie and I decided to leave fnatic, we really appreciated what you all done for us, and I hope we can still keep in contact together. Thank you !

When asked about the duo's future, FnaticMSI's Business Development Manager, Neil 'kboy' Kirk, disclosed that both players have assumingly found a new organization that will be able to support them for the upcoming QuakeCon.

Unfortunately and with regret our support of QuakeLive and by definition Kevin (Strenx) and Seb (Spart1e) comes to an end. We have made the tough decision not to continue supporting this title due to the removal of the game from IEM and the decline in on-line and off-line events. As a result we have agreed the release of both players to enable them to seek joining another organisation. Both players have agreed terms with an organisation which will enable them to be supported ongoing and potentially attend QuakeCon. I personally thank Kevin and Seb for all their time in Fnatic and wish them both well for the future.

Here at Fnatic.com we would once again like to thank both Sebastian and Kevin for their time in the team and wish them all the best at QuakeCon and ongoing in the future.
