Friis: "Today is a sad day"

I am so happy that fnatic gave me the chance back then. As everyone who has followed me throughout my career, it was a "choice" between Fnatic and mtw. I choose Fnatic for many reasons.
Most of you thought I was stupd and crazy to choose a team that for the most part had not won anything all year. Above some which were largely in all finals. The explanation was
fairly simple. I had more faith in my future in Fnatic than with mtw. I had high expectations for myself and what we could accomplish in Fnatic. I'm happy that I made the best choice. We've had some changes along the way, reason replacements. But throughout my time in Fnatic, it must be said that I was very happy with how things went. We made sure to join the CS 1.6 team and end where all fnatic teams belong, that's being the best. The best team for the best organisation. I'm proud of what we managed to do even though no one really believed in us.
However, I am also embarrassed and feel I have failed since switched to CSGO. We've done okay considering all of the replacements and confusion. But as I see it, we were playing against 7-8 other teams, teams that could end in top 3 for all events if they had a good day.
This is how you play on the day. There are NiP and then there are all the others with a few exceptions. So yes everyone has been disappointed with our performance in CS:GO. We could have practiced more, we could have skipped some tournaments and spent that time preparing for bigger events and preparing together. We chose to show the fans us through the good and the bad. Maybe the wrong decision but it is what it is. We must look back on everything we have achieved as a team and individually. It has been an amazing journey with many ups and downs, and a lot of good memories throughout our time. There will always be questions about the choices we have made, why we did it, and suggestions on how we should've done it. I can very easily see the things I could have done differently, but unfortunately I can't change them now.
Looking back on the past, the best time in fnatic has without a doubt was the first line up with: Gux, Xizt, pita and cArn. I've never had so much fun and never been around four people I got along with so well, both in prosperity and adversity. Each of them are amazing in their own way. I really want to thank them for everything they gave me. Those guys gave me the motivation to fight on and continue.
It took it's toll on me that they all fell one by one. As each of them left I felt my motivation decreased too. Going into CS:GO the mood wasn't as good. Although don't get me wrong the times I've had with Fnatic since them have also been amazing. However there were a lot of personal problems and in game issues that have made it hard for me to hold onto that focus. Sometimes it wasn't fun to play at all, but we're professionals and we have to solve the problems and get back to work.
As for the Fnatic organisation, they never said anything they couldn't vouch for. They were always there for us when we needed them and I think they're one of the few organisations that offers that in eSports. Through all the tough times they were right there besides us and supported every decision we made.
I'm impressed by how close they were with us. It's common in eSports and around the CS:GO scene that teams have problems with payments and experience trouble getting to events, that was never a problem in Fnatic.
Patrik's work as a manager for our team was crucial to things working out. He really helped hold things together. Even if the composition of the team has not been the best on a personal level he was always there for us. He helped us through the tough times and celebrated with us in the good times. Without you Patrik we would not have won as much as we did. For that I thank you.
I really hope that Fnatic will find a team that can take them back to the throne of FPS games. I have the upmost respect for everyone in and around the Fnatic organisation. To me Fnatic is a family where everyone is there for each other. It cannot be described in words how happy I am for the time in Fnatic.
I would like to especially thank Gux, cArn, Xizt, Pita, Anne, Danijel, Alex, Moddi, Karrigan, Trace, Fryte, Xyp9x, Sam, Harry, Matt, Phil and Andreja for making my time in Fnatic unforgettable!
Thank all of you who supported us and especially me, throughout all the good times and the bad times. Without you I wouldn't have reached the point where I am today!
