Fall Championship Interview with Quackniix

The Fall Championships are about to get underway in Anaheim, California later this week. The best teams from Heroes of the Storm have settled in and are ready to prove themselves on the biggest stage of the year.
We sat down with our team captain Dob "Quackniix" Engström to talk about the teams preparations in Switzerland, what it would mean to them to take home the trophy and the changes coming for Heroes eSports in 2017.
Check out our interview below and get ready for all the action to come from this weeks competition at Blizzcon 2016.
Blizzcon is on the horizon, what have you done as team to prepare for the event?
We boot camped in Switzerland for a week. The main focus is always preparing for what is upcoming, so in order to prepare for Blizzcon we scrimmed versus the best teams in Europe as much as possible. We tried to develop some new things to have in our pocket for the tournament. But the main focus is always working on our own meta for the tournament and how we want to play versus the different teams.
Do you feel the bootcamp has put you guys in a good place both individually and as a unit?
In general it always feels better to bootcamp than to just be playing from your home. You are with your team the whole time, everybody is focused and it’s just so much easier getting practice in or just talking about strategy between the games.
You’ve been in California for a few days now, how are you adjusting to the time difference?
I think we have adapted to the time difference pretty well. The only thing that happens is that we wake up very early and are very tired as soon as we’re done in the studio and return to the hotel in the evening, but we’re not extremely jetlagged.
Have you explored the city a bit or are you mainly sticking to the hotel and preparing for the event?
Not yet. So far it has only been trips to the studio for practice and rehearsals. We will have some time off towards the weekend after the first group stage. Across the street are some places to get food, this is the furthest we got so far.
Who are you looking forward to facing at the Fall Championship and who do you think will be your biggest competition?
The answer for both questions is MVP Black. They are the strongest team in the world and I really want to play versus them at some point in the tournament.
As a team, what are your expectations for the Fall Championship - do you think you can break the curse of 2nd place?
This is our first world championship. Of course every team here has the ambition to win it all. But you also have to be realistic. So our expectation is to finish in Top 6 or Top 4. I would already be happy finishing in Top 6, Top 4 would make me super happy. We’re trying our best to improve and learn here and finish as good as possible.
What would it mean to you to win this event?
It would mean the world to me. I am an emotional person and I think you could already see that when we qualified for Blizzcon in the Decider’s match at Gamescom. Winning an event like this would probably be the best feeling in the world.
There’s some major changes coming to the Heroes of the Storm scene in 2017, what are your thoughts on the new Heroes of the Storm Global Championship?
It’s quacking amazing! We only had a small look so far on how 2017 is going to look like cause we’re busy with preparing for world championship. But we’re hyped for the next phase of Heroes esports.
