Enrique "xPeke" Cedeno Martinez will be jetting off to Korea to represent Spain with his team-mates.
Another trip to Asia for our Spanish League of Legends star, this time he will be waving the Spanish flag nice and high with his WCG team-mates from Meet Your Makers. Enrique has had a very busy year so far, and with the year coming to a close, he will be hoping to end 2011 on a high. So far Enrique has travelled all over the world, including New York, Taiwan, Sweden, France, Ukraine and Germany. Heading to a place like Korea is a lot different to a flight within Europe though, it's a completely different environment and atmosphere. Whilst in Taiwan it was clear that Enrique wasn't too keen on on the food and the air out there, so it will be interesting to see whether this will effect him in Korea.
It wasn't easy to achieve the spot in Korea, winning the Spanish qualifier wasn't a walkthrough for Peke and his team-mates. The superstar SK.Ocelote was also hoping to get a spot there with his team, but "Smart People" stood in their way. Smart People is the name of Enrique's team, which consists of him and for Meet Your Makers' players. When he isn't playing with FnaticMSI.LoL, Enrique is quite often playing with SP, preparing as much as possible for their trip.
"I've already trained against many good teams from EU with this team and I feel confident that we can place in the top three if we play at our maximum."
Going into the tournament with not a real idea of how the Asian teams are going to be performing is a slight worry for Enrique. They showed huge domination at the IEM Global Challenge Guangzhou and since then, the European's haven't been able to get a huge look over how they have been playing.
"I suppose the hardest team will be one from Korea or China, they showed up in other events and proved that they are really good and I never saw them."
This is a big trip, and it isn't with his usual team-mates, his close friends from FnaticMSI will not be alongside him. However he is going with his Spanish friends, and speaking in his native language for the whole trip will be a nice change for Enrique.
"Smart People are the same as FnaticMSI, I would say they are cool people and talking in native language give a plus in a lot of stuff. I have also met them and they are really nice people."
Peke with team-mate Shushei at IEM:NY, victorious.
He is heading in as the solo FnaticMSI player, along with a full MYM squad, which in some way will make him feel slightly like an outsider. But also gives him the satisfaction that his playstyle is so great that a team picks him over their full lineup. He is seen as the star of the lineup and will be hoping to play alongside his homeland team-mates and take them all the way to winning WCG.
"They have a nice level some of the players are really skilled individual but sometimes i see some discoordination or missunderstandings but with practice and fixing those mistakes they have a spot in the top."
The Counter Logic Gaming mix will be in attendance and will be hoping to win the back-to-back WCG title. But the competition this year round is a lot tougher. Peke & co. will be aiming to defeat Team Canada and stop them in their tracks to the back-to-back series.
"At the last WCG, I wasn't in attendance, that was a while ago! But I really think we are stronger than them since they are not playing as CLG they have some mix members."
There is going to be some big pressure involved in the event, not only for the games, but for some players the travelling will be tough. In the case of our Spanish star, his dislike of flying is going to be fighting him for the long flight ahead of him. His past experience in flying to Asia gives him a slight edge since he knows what to expect and how to handle it. But hopefully this won't get the better of him and he will still be playing at his full ability in Korea.
"The only pressure i have is the damn plane! I can't stand being on a plane for more than 4 hours and that trip is going to be like 20 hours. I hope I get nervous about the games and i can forget about the plane! Sometimes I think about it but it doesnt bother me I see myself and the team prepared and we still have some training left."
Peke in the spotlight at a trip to Taiwan with Raidcall
It's a very busy schedule for Enrique at the moment, having to juggle FnaticMSI and his WCG practice must put a strain on him. However the black and orange comes first and foremost up until the WCG event. His team-mates giving him the go ahead to practice with his WCG team must also be a great feeling of friendship and true companionship though. This is something that all six members of FnaticMSI.LoL share, which is great to witness at events.
"We dont have a setup time with the WCG team so what im doing lately is practice with fnatic all i can nonstop and then try to practice with the wcg when we are 5 to do it."
The whole Spanish community is excited to watch the boys in Korea and see how well they get on. Enrique had a final few words to say to wrap up the Q&A session.
"For the spanish followers: We will make u proud! For the FnaticMSI followers: The system of this tournament doesnt allow all fnatic to go :< so i'll be the only one there but we will make FnaticMSI be on a good spot there!"
