With the KSL now under way and the FnaticRaidCall Korean Starcraft 2 Academy full of life once more - it is time to hear from our new players. We caught up with, Sang Kun 'SON' Lee, to talk about his joining the team, his expectations and a little about him and his career thus far.

Hello, how are you? Thank you for doing this interview.

Hi, nice to meet you and good to speak to you again.

You joined the FnaticRaidCall Academy - what made you want to join?

Seung Hwan Hong, aka FnaticVestige (or VestigeProS), scouted me and gave me an opportunity to play for Fnatic’s SC2 academy team.

You joined with DeParture, can you tell us what your relationship was with DeParture before you joined FnaticRaidCall together?

We first met in the Starcraft 2 community in which we shared strategies and practiced together. Since then, we have become good friends.

After you arrived, FnaticRaidCall also picked up Moon and aLive, two very successful players.  What is it like playing on the same team as these two?

It is a great honor to be on board with such high profile players and it motivated me to work harder and persevere to become like aLive or Moon.

Do you get to practice with the other Koreans and ToD and NightEnD very often?  How do you fare against them in practice matches?

I have played with teammates occasionally and I personally believe that my skill level is far below that of our pro-team members.  After every internal practice match, I grasp the feeling that I have to work and practice much harder in order to defeat them.

Are you competing in any regular tournaments (online and offline) that we should look out for?  Are you participating in GSL qualifiers at all?

I attend most domestic offline tournaments, including the GSL qualifiers.

Do you think there is a possibility of seeing you at any larger tournaments - possibly something in the west?

If I receive an opportunity, then I am more than willing to grasp it to challenge the bigger world.

What made you choose Zerg?

Because Zerg’s merit on the concept of massing units to defeat the opponent caught my attention and that fit me really well.

Mutalisks are obviously your favorite unit, did you ever study JaeDong's Mutalisk play, or anyone else in BroodWar?

I contemplated why mutalisks of professional players are much stronger than mine to discover my problems/weaknesses in micro-controlling mutalisks.

What is the biggest difference between microing your Mutalisks in BW compared to Starcraft 2 - how do you successfully manage Mutalisks in SC2?

The interface has become much more comfortable in SC2 and the general mainstream within the game has altered a lot. I try to perform diverse methodologies, when using mutalisks.

Are there any players you look up to in Starcraft 2?  Who do you think has the best Mutalisk control in Starcraft 2?

I mostly watch Soo Ho Park (MVPDongRaeGu)’s plays. I believe he possesses the most formidable mutalisk-usage out of all professional zerg players at the moment.

What kind of play style do you try to utilize - aggressive and early game tactics, or a late game macro style? Why?

I try to be flexible with my style according to my opponent’s strategies and builds. I think that is the way to increase the winning percentage as a zerg player.

What is your favorite strategy against each race?

Vs Zerg- Roach play
Vs Terran- Mutalisk/double ling
Vs Protoss- Infestor/double ling

You played Starcraft BroodWar before you switched to Starcraft 2 a year or so ago, but you only wanted to become a professional gamer when you saw FruitDealer become a champion in the first season of GSL.  What was so special about FruitDealer's win that made you want to be a champion also?

When watching him winning the tournament, a substantial amount of sensation struck me and my mind was determined to be on that spot sooner or later, preferably sooner. That is how I began my challenge.

What is your favorite part of the lifestyle of professional gamers?

I am not really sure as I am still getting used to the lifestyle. I think I need some more time to answer this question more thoroughly.

What tournament, other than GSL, do you want to win the most? Why?

I want to win the MLG tournament as I believe it is the biggest tournament in the North American region.

What are your goals for this year?

I want to pass the GSL qualifiers and publicize myself to the sc2 fans who I am.

What do you spend your spare time on?

I meet with friends or watch movies/dramas from the US.

If you weren't doing eSports, what do you think you would be doing?

I think I would have been studying to go to college, a routine life that most people pursue.

Do you have any closing words or shoutouts?

At the moment, I am neither skillful nor famous, but I will put as much effort as possible to succeed and I would like the fans to watch me becoming a successful pro gamer. Thank you.
