The Starcraft 2 Beta is in full motion with an almost constant 7000-8000 people online all the time. This means a lot of games, a lot of testing, and a few fixes that need to be made. Cameron 'fams' Carson comes to you with his latest blog, all about his feedback on the beta and a few fixes that need to be made so far.
Now, in this blog, I would like to talk about some problems I personally think Battle.net 2.0 and SC2 possess.
- Overlords won't hatch sometimes.
This is caused by Overlords stacking directly on top of your eggs, so when they try to hatch, they can't float up, so they stay as eggs. Even after you moved your overlords however, it takes a little while for the eggs to hatch. I would preferably like this fixed, there is no real reason to have it in the game, as it just means I will set the rally point of my main a few feet from it, rather than having them spawn where they are.

As you can see the cocoon is 100% complete but does not hatch

- Zerg upgrade times are too lengthy.
This could just be me, but I find it extremely slow going when I want to upgrade the attack of my mutas, and at the same time upgrade my main to T3 (So I can add broodlords to my army) and my T3 finishes well before my level 1 attack upgrade finishes. I then have to continue waiting, then once that finishes I can upgrade my spire, which also takes a rather long time.

Blizzards mysterious point system.
|
(NOTE: I am still not sure how this works, as I sometimes get + points for beating favored opponents, and sometimes - points.)
(NOTE 2: After talking to HenL, apparently, the points work as you would think, where if you are favored and lose, you lose points, but if your opponent is favored, you gain points. Blizzard just has not fixed their chart to display that accurately.
- No server switches.
For me, this is a huge problem. I understand this is the beta, and that this will most likely change in the future, however I think we should have been given the chance to play on whatever server we would like to, or just have us testing the beta on ONE server. All of my clan mates are on the Asian server, so I am stuck laddering when I want to play.
- When you defeat or lose to an opponent, when you quit out of the game, you cannot click on your opponents name to see his/her stats.
Personally, I would like to be able to click on their nickname and view their profile. I hate having to go and search for them, especially on this new battle.net where finding rankings of other ladders/divisions is quite difficult compared to the old battle.net and Wc3.
- Ranks aren’t numbered properly, (ie, 13rd, instead of 13th)

My current rank. It seems that the problem mentioned above is only for double digit numbers.
|
- When in your own profile, you should be able to see (or at least have the opportunity to see) a longer match history list, right now you can only see 5 or so games.
I would like to be able to see more of my games. This top 5 list of my last games played is nice, but there should be an option where I can view the entire list or, at least more than 5 of my last games, say 25 or so.
To end this blog, I thought I would take some screen shots of a medium sized battle, and zoom in and take shots from different angles, I hope you enjoy!

Keep in mind the graphics setting is only medium and the ships and mutas look that good.

It seems he brought scv units to mess up the AI of the lings, but that doesnt work in SC2.

Mutas focus on his medivac as it tries to heal the marines.

Only a few marines are left as the mutas and lings finish him off.
