Fnatic has been a part of the SMITE competitive scene since March 2015. During that time we made it all the way to the 2016 SMITE World Championship but today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the end of our venture into SMITE.
After the departure of Badgah and CaptainTwig in January, Fnatic and the remaining players have been trying to put together a new roster that is capable of performing at the standards required to compete in the Smite Pro League. So far, however, we have been unsuccessful. The addition of Jifffy and BigManTingz kept us going during the Spring Split but so far the team has not been able to find the right chemistry to perform at their previous level.
Since some of our players have expressed the desire to stop playing the game or change teams going forward, we have decided to end our SMITE operations for the time being. This means that our current team will disband and that Fnatic will not be competing in any SMITE tournaments going forward.
We’d like to thank our players, João “ManiaKK” Ferreira, Philip “Jifffy“Arcari, Joakim “Zyrhoes” Verngren, Marcus ”Realzx” Vining, and Jordan “BigManTingz” Theaker for their hard work during their time at Fnatic and wish them all the best moving forward. We’d also like to thank all of our fans who’ve supported us along the way!
We caught up with Team Operations Manager Florian “DRUNKKZ3” Le Bihan and Marcus “Realzx’ Vining to ask them for their thoughts on the decision.
