Incredible effort! Fnatic’s DotA 2 team booked their place for Seattle this week after a frankly excellent qualifying campaign. It all comes after nearly a year spent trying to recapture the form of our Ti6 roster and it is only fitting that we hit our stride by securing 2017’s second SEA spot for the biggest esports event in the world!

It was no easy task either with the qualifying round robin STACKED with talent, from Mineski to Faceless, Execration and TNC. We had to be at our absolute best to make it through and in the early stages we were already showing promise. We were on a hot streak, winning the first three best-of-1 clashes to push us to the front of the pack. It was only Mushi’s Mineski side that were able to halt our charge, and even that was temporary.

You could feel the improvement throughout the team. QO had looked monstrous with Febby a constant backbone to our team fighting. The understanding and cohesion throughout the roster has reached a whole new level.

After the Mineski clash we went unbeaten right up until the final match. Level in the table with TNC, we faced off in a winner takes all clash with the loser being cast into the longer road to qualifying. We were confident too - we’d just managed to outplay giants of the SEA scene to get to this point with just one more step to make it. We were outdrafted though, TNC making the most of their early prowess and snowballing hard for the win.

An early start for the bracket stage, we chose to face Execration in the semi-final and proved our round robin match was no fluke. After edging out our opponents in game 1, we were completely dominant taking the second match in just 23 short minutes. Once again, QO was a star once again but not without immense support from DJ and Ohaiyo.

Clutch Gamers made it through in their tie with Mineski and we knew we were capable of taking them down. We’d already proved it once and we were confident of wrapping up the spot. Winning both drafts, we never looked like failing as we bagged the 2-0 and our rightful place at Ti7!

We’re so proud of the team and can’t wait to see them take Seattle by storm!
