Fnatic Weekly - ESL Playoffs Secured!

So much pressure was on our CS:GO boys last week!

The team has suffered throughout the ESL Pro League, with 1-1s plaguing the boys from the get go, so if we wanted to guarantee our spot at playoffs, we needed 2-0s over Kinguin and long time league leaders mousesports.

Play didn’t get off to the best start though. Server failures threatened to derail the boys’ focus, their frustrations boiling over onto their social channels.

However, the next day they were right back at it, with no sign that the delay had gotten into their heads. Dennis shone with flusha on Overpass. Dominant throughout, we closed out the first series 2-0 to keep our playoff hopes alive.

ECS managed to squeeze in its own juicy series, with us battling Virtus.Pro on Wednesday night. Not easy by any stretch. Our backs forced against the wall at 13-15, a classic retake on B from Olof and KRiMZ brought the boys back from the brink and forced us into OT. Olof went for the jugular early, picking up the AWP collateral on TaZ and neo before mowing down byali for change on Archside. A KRiMZ double put us ahead before a BIG 1v2 set us up for victory.

The same form followed onto Mirage where a 16-9 win earned us our second 2-0 of the night, with flusha and JW stealing the show.

Thursday’s all important match was upon us and man did we show up! KRiMZ bagged HLTV’s Man of the Match award with 23 kills and our collective effort delivered a 16-10 win on Cache. Flusha and Olof picked up the pace on Mirage, taking chrisJ out of the match almost completely and driving the team to 16-6. Playoffs secured, the CS:GO boys will see you in Dallas!

"Since we reassembled the team a few months back we struggled a lot in the beginning but have with time improved day by day and is starting to regain a solid form. Us qualifying for the EPL finals is a great showing of that and is a good boost going forward. Its also great because we havent played that many tournaments lately and want to attend as much as possible to show the scene we are a strong top placement contender again." Jesper 'JW' Wecksell

Other Teams

It was a big week for our Heroes of the Storm team as they took on Team Synergy in the final week of the regular HGC season. The team had already secured their first place spot last week but regardless, they carried on with the same awesome play we’ve seen from them all year. With the pressure off, both teams had room to try some unique picks and they did not disappoint! Throughout the series we saw Murky, Abathur, Cho’Gall, and Quackniix and Schwimpi both managed to get their hands on Genji, showing their skill on the latest champion to join the nexus.

We finished the series 3-0 and showed everyone why Fnatic is among the best squads in Europe, and why we deserve our spot at the Mid-Season Brawl! We’ll see you there at DreamHack Summer this June!

This Week

On Friday the best Vainglory teams from Europe and North America descend on London’s O2 Arena for the 2017 Unified Spring Live Championship. EU’s number 4 seed, Palmatoro, nettetoilette and TetnoJJ will be aiming for the lion’s share of the $75,000 prize pool.
