LONDON, UK. 8th February 2018 - Leading esports organisation FNATIC is proud to announce that it has been named the winner of the ‘Rights Holder of the Year’ award at the 2017 ESA Excellence Awards. Held in London on Wednesday 7th February, FNATIC’s win marks the first time ever an esports brand has been awarded for its innovative and impactful partnerships with global brands. The ‘Rights Holder of the Year’ award category recognises organisations that are demonstrating development within their industry through sponsorships and partnership engagement with other leading brands.
The 2017 European Sponsorship Awards sees agencies; brands, individuals and rights holders enter their top campaigns to a judging panel comprising senior sponsorship and engagement marketing professionals. The ceremony saw winners crowned from a diverse range of sponsorship disciplines and events that cover such areas as sports, arts, digital and community. Many of the world’s leading right-holders who have previously been shortlisted include Arsenal, Manchester City and last year’s winner The Snowboxx Festival.
FNATIC has added value to its existing fan-base through sponsorships and partnerships with some of the world’s most recognised brands, whilst creating new opportunities which bring the FNATIC brand to a wider audience. Partnerships with brands such as Monster, Deezer and OnePlus are among those recently announced.
This week, the London-based esports powerhouse has named Nick Fry, the former CEO of the Mercedes AMG Formula One Team and founder of advisory firm Stonehaven Partners, as Head of Commercial Strategy. Fry is tasked with leading the company into the next phase of its growth commercially and unlocking the opportunities esports presents for brands worldwide.
Wouter Sleijffers, CEO, FNATIC said. “To be awarded by the European Sponsorship Association is not only a win for FNATIC, but for esports as a whole. We count ourselves now among leading right-holders in sports and entertainment by delivering creative and innovative partnerships to a global audience. This award recognises our work thus far, and provides the business with a massive boost going forward. We’re proud that FNATIC contributes to taking our very exciting industry forward.”
