HOTS | HGC Gameweek 1 Preview

HGC returns!

2017 was all right, wasn’t it? Two Phase wins, a Western Clash, a Mid-Season Brawl and another Grand Final at BlizzCon. It was truly the year when Fnatic HotS proved that, not only are the Koreans beatable, but also that we can be the very best.

We go into 2018 with two fresh faces: Benjamin ‘BadBenny’ Eekenulv comes in as our new offlaner and Thomas ‘Ménè’ Cailleux comes in as our new ranged assassin.

BadBenny and Ménè made their debuts with the team in Beijing at the the 2017 Gold Club World Championship in December, where the boys picked up a fourth place finish against the world’s best.

But, having spent the off-season break melding newfound team synergy, the newly-shaped roster is fully ready to start Phase #1 of the Europe Pro strongly.

In Gameweek 1, we start off against newly-promoted Leftovers. Although only four of our boys are Swedes now, All chat might see some spicy Swedish with Leftovers’ frontline being patrolled by fellow Swede, Johan ‘Lauber’ Lauber.

If their moniker hadn’t made it obvious, the team that made it through the Promotion/Relegation Crucible have shown enough promise to deserve their place in HGC, but their first game in the limelight of professional Heroes ended in a 3-0 defeat against Team Liquid earlier in the weekend.

Anything short of a place in the Phase #1 Western Clash will be a disappointment for our boys, so a win as strong as Liquid's against the newcomers will help along the way.

Phase #1 Western Clash will take place at IEM Katowice on 2nd-4th March after five weeks and seven games of the EU Pro League have been said and done.

Gameweek 1:

Fnatic v Leftovers - 21/1, 20:00 CET
