Head of Esports Performance - Berlin
As Head of Esports Performance within Fnatic’s Berlin operation, you'll help redefine and elevate competitive preparedness across our teams based out of Berlin (League of Legends and Valorant). You'll spearhead the development of a long-term performance strategy, and drive high standards alongside the teams every day in our state-of-the-art Berlin performance facility that leads to consistently lifting trophies. This is an opportunity to shape the competitive future of Fnatic and drive us toward the top of global esports performance, building a scalable, replicable performance framework and setting the standard for elite processes that can be echoed across our professional teams.
Your mission is to:
- Devise and communicate a clear vision for building, leading and continual growth of the esports performance environment in Berlin. Implement day-to-day routines and structures that drive elite performance and can be replicable across titles
- Identify the most critical performance KPIs for each team, regularly measure these, and implement a system (e.g., dashboards) to track progress and ensure data-informed decision-making
- Directly support the physical and mental readiness of our teams, addressing specific individual needs and ensuring they are fully prepared for high-stakes competition across international stages
- Define and implement a comprehensive, scalable performance strategy tailored to Fnatic’s titles (initially League of Legends and Valorant)
- Oversee title support and coaching staff, directly assisting them to foster a winning, cohesive culture that permeates the entire performance environment
- Oversee implementation of robust Individual Development Plans for all team members (coaches, players and support staff), setting clear performance objectives that clearly define a path to achieving sustained success
- Manage performance coaching and support specialists; and nurture Berlin-based partnerships that enhance Fnatic’s access to top-tier performance resources across physical, mental, and analytical domains
- Be responsible for upholding and fostering athlete-centered approach to winning; championing welfare and safeguarding initiatives
- Collaborate with coaches, central Pro-Gaming management and Fnatic Data & Insights staff to collect and analyse performance data, leveraging insights to enhance strategic decision-making and player development
- Support recruitment processes when necessary from a performance perspective
- Lead ad-hoc esports projects as defined by Pro-Gaming leadership
We're looking for:
- A proven ability to foster winning habits, optimise coaching practices, and deliver performance-enhancing interventions in elite team environments
- Extensive experience coaching or mentoring individuals, setting up performance frameworks
- A commitment to excellence and track record of association with competitive success at an elite level
- A commitment to onsite presence in Berlin, continuously driving high standards and acting as a unifying force
- A team-oriented approach, able to work collaboratively and influence critical strategic projects to prioritise success
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence; able to deal with complex issues sensitively and tactfully
- Willingness to travel to esports events as required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
