Fnatic partners with ONIC Esports

Published: 21 May 2024

Today we are excited to announce our entry into Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, as we partner with the world's most successful MLBB org ONIC Esports. Fnatic will be working alongside both ONIC (Indonesia) and ONIC PH (Philippines) to compete in the MPL regional leagues under a  joint Fnatic & ONIC banner.

Fnatic has always operated as a global esports organisation with strong ties to Southeast Asia. This move into competitive MLBB will allow us to reconnect with our passionate fans in the region and introduce ourselves to the incredible existing ONIC community. We have been impressed with the role MLBB has played in the growth of esports in SEA and globally and it goes without saying the ONIC Esports has been at the forefront of that growth. We are honoured to team up with them and collaborate on their MLBB Pro divisions in ID and PH.

Fnatic Chief Gaming Officer Patrik Sattermon had this to say on the collaboration

We've admired MLBB's impact on esports growth in SEA and globally for years. After months of discussions, we're honoured to team up with ONIC and collaborate on their MLBB Pro divisions in Indonesia and the Philippines. This partnership excites us, and we believe it will bring immense value to both sets of fans and players alike

Fnatic has always seen mobile gaming as the logical next step for esports to reach wider audiences and with the APAC region leading the charge on mobile gaming, we are looking forward to welcoming the tier one ONIC talent into the Fnatic lineup. This is a great opportunity to bring new fans not just to MLBB as a title but for fans to experience the growth and achievements of these two excellent esports rosters.

ONIC PH has qualified for the playoffs of MPL Philippines Season 13 and will compete under the new Fnatic ONIC PH name at the tournament starting tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd May. Following suit, ONIC will be competing as Fnatic ONIC in the MPL Indonesia Season 13 Playoffs kicking off on 6th June, with both rosters aiming to secure qualification for MSC x EWC 2024 this summer.
