Golden Moved to Inactive Roster
Fnatic CSGO in-game leader Maikil “Golden” Selim has been moved to our inactive roster, and has been allowed to explore his options for the future.
Golden came through the Fnatic ranks as part of Fnatic Academy in 2016, and made his step up to the main roster in 2017, winning WESG 2017 and IEM Katowice 2018. After a spell in NA with Cloud9, Golden returned to Fnatic in 2019, helping us win ESL Pro League Season 11 and DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019.
Andreas Samuelsson, CSGO Head Coach said:
“It saddens me to announce that we are moving Maikil from the active CSGO roster. Maikil is certainly the friendliest and best teammate in the scene, but the recent results have not lived up to the standards we expect from the team. That's why we're looking to turn the page and begin our rebuilding process with new in-game leadership. You can expect more news from the Fnatic camp in the near future to bring us back where we belong.”
His time as IGL of Fnatic will be remembered fondly, but recent results and performances have required us to make changes in our CSGO roster.
Golden sent this message to Fnatic and the Black and Orange fans:
“I wish Fnatic the best of luck. Thank you for all the moments we shared together - I will always remember and cherish the memories. Thanks to all the people who supported us through the good and the bad. As of now there will be some reflecting to do and explore my options for the future.”
Following a difficult period during Covid, we are now on a journey to build the Fnatic CSGO team of the future. We will be announcing additional changes and updates on our journey back to the top very soon.
