CS:GO Team update

Smooya moves to inactive roster

Published: 21 Feb 2022

After a solid performance from our CS:GO team at IEM Katowice, we have an important update regarding the team line up. AWPer Owen ‘Smooya’ Butterfield joined us on trial in October 2021 and has delivered some memorable moments as our international roster has continued to develop in recent months. With qualification for the Major starting this week and in order to move our CS:GO roster on to better and better results, we have made the decision that, as of today, Smooya will be moved to the inactive roster.

Team management wants to put on record their thanks for Smooya’s commitment to our CS:GO strategy and will continue to support him with the next steps in his career as he drops to our inactive roster.

Team Director Andreas Samuelsson had this to say:

We acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and amazing plays Smooya put into our Katowice run but we have come to the conclusion that he is currently not the right fit for our main CS:GO roster. We think now is the best time to allow Smooya to explore his options within the game.
Owen has given his all to Fnatic and contributed greatly to our performances over the past few months. Myself and the entire team wish to thank him for the great memories we have shared and the entertainment he has provided.

In order to maintain momentum post-Katowice, we will be moving Lulian 'regali' Harjău from our Fnatic Rising roster into the AWPer role of our main roster. Regali joined our Rising Academy program in July last year and we’ve been very impressed about his talent, dedication and attitude - which he will now bring into the Pro squad.
