LEC Countdown - 1 Day Left - LEC Format Explained
Hello Fnatics! 🧡
1 more sleep til the first game day of the LEC! 📆
As we continue building the hype around the weekend we are going to quickly breakdown the changes that Riot have made to the LEC 2024 season.
The handy Fnatic App allows us to know exactly when Fnatic plays but for those interested in all the fixtures, the LEC now begins at 17:00 CET/16:00 UK, which is an hour earlier than last year.
MSI and Worlds Qualification
MSI Qualification remains the same with the Winter and Spring Champions representing EMEA as first and second seed.
Worlds qualification will be different to last year as the champions of summer will be guaranteed a spot at Worlds. The remaining seeds will be claimed based on placements in the season finals.
LEC Format
(from lolesports.com)
One of the most significant changes to the format will see a merge of the Group Stage and Playoffs for each split into a single bracket. These brackets will have the same number of best-of-3 and best-of-5 series’ as before, with added repeat matchup protection for the Lower Bracket.
This means that teams that have played against each other in the Upper Round 1, will not match against each other again in the Lower Round 2.
