No more esports on Twitch?

Edit: Twitch backtracked.

With the new guidelines that prohibit:

  • On-stream logos are limited to 3% of screen size.

  • Burned-in video Ads are NOT allowed.

  • Burned-in Display Ads are NOT allowed.

  • Burned-in Audio Ads are NOT allowed.

With these guidelines, Twitch is shooting itself in the foot and could accelerate its closure, especially as more and more new competitors to Twitch are emerging.

And it's not just esports; even creators affiliated with organizations like Fnatic will be adversely affected by restrictions on displaying sponsor logos and such.

To be honest, I don't understand this decision.

Loading...@owenmelbz Yes, but they have banned streaming simultaneously on YouTube and Twitch, even when the channel is not a partner, like the LEC and VCT do. So it might be a problem (Well, Riot will probably be able to get an exception, but probably not smaller games or scenes).

Loading...@RenoNiiChan All smaller or more niche game tournaments will suffer. Riot will likely have deals, but games like Smash won't be able to survive, especially since Twitch prohibits simultaneous streaming on other platforms even if you don't have a contract with Twitch.

Loading...@Meyvischh ANDIF People were trashing Blizzard for choosing YouTube instead of Twitch for the OWL and CDL, but in reality they were visionary. Furthermore, since LOL is already being streamed on YouTube, the switch to YouTube-only won't be the most problematic aspect
