An Update On Fnatic VALORANT Coaching Staff
:orange-valorant:
As we prepare for VCT Stage 1, we have made some changes to our coaching staff. We’re consistently looking for great talent to support our team and strengthen our performance and we’re really excited about the support staff we’ll be bringing to VALORANT this March.
Firstly, we’re sad to announce that due to factors beyond our control, we will be moving d00mbr0s from the Assistant Coach position to the in-active roster. We’ll continue to work closely with Erik and monitor his circumstances to assess his rejoining of the team in the future in a different capacity.
Taking the helm of Assistant Coach as we head into Stage 1 is Scuttt. His strength in macro and preparation, paired with strong working relationships with Milan made us eager to bring him onto the team. He’s been working with the team since mid-March to begin preparing the team for Stage 1 and we appreciate the speed with which he’s entered to ensure the team have as much time with him as possible.
Alongside him, we’re excited to introduce Philipp Schikor as our VALORANT Performance Coach. We’re excited by his experience across esports and traditional sports and his strong team fit. Based in Berlin, Philipp will work closely with the team day-to-day to give them the structured, 1:1 performance support.
We’re excited with these changes and look forward to seeing their impact on the server with milanfps leading the charge. Like with anything, time will be needed for the staff to settle in and find the right tools and techniques to support the team, but we are excited about this step in the right direction.
Colin CoJo Johnson, our VALORANT Team Director, shares his thoughts on the changes:
We've been working a lot since Kick-Off ended to make sure our staff is in the best place it can be moving into Split 1. Unfortunately, we won't be able to have d00mbr0s in the capacity that we were hoping - but we have been able to bring in some additional reinforcements that I believe will have a big impact.
Scuttt was a key piece of the BBL staff that impressed so much in the early stages on Kick-Off (including a victory over ourselves) and we were more than happy to steal him away. Milan and him have a solid existing relationship and we think culturally he will be a good fit as well.
Speaking of culture, we are bringing in a new Performance Coach as well, Phillip “Szed” Schickor who we were very impressed with in his interviews and are excited to have him on the ground with the team. He has a great academic and professional background as well as being someone who sees team culture in the same way that we do. I think we will overall be a much more prepared and consistent team with this constellation of staff.
