Loading...@nebukuro So you’re saying just do nothing? Even if they do find something else it raises awareness to it and that can spread. It is the internet after all a lot of fanbases are interlinked. There are fans of trad sports that are fans of esports. I’m not saying it’s guaranteed to achieve anything but it’s better than doing nothing and going on with a defeatist mindset. Why bother do anything at all in this world if there’s a chance of failure..? I’ll continue to speak up about it and hope others will too and even if its for nought at least I tried and I can hold my head up high knowing I didn’t just sit back and accept it . I’m Irish, fighting lost or seemingly lost battles for what we believe in is in my blood and I’ll keep up with this regardless. Maybe I worded it wrong and that’s on me. If at all possible I would rather Fnatic to take part in other tournaments or events not run by ESL or associated with them or others owned and funded by Saudi Arabia.

Loading...@nebukuro So you’re saying because there’s no evidence that it did anything that people should do nothing? What kind of mind set is that?! That’s such a defeatist approach. I honestly believe that because of this such heavy handed approach by the Saudi regime to try and distance themselves from oil money and to diversify their economy and their use of sports washing to do that, that if a continued boycotting of their sports washing could cause enough of a stir to create some possible change. I’m not talking about one event but every event and every attempt at sports washing they take. Money talks obviously so when that is effected it can create change. And no I didn’t tolerate shit about ESL because it’s only recently I learned about Saudis involvement in it. You know seeing as I don’t follow that scene I was unaware of it. If I was aware or that earlier I’d have spoken up about it sooner.

Loading...@nebukuro How can there be evidence when no teams are willing to boycott it or anything like it? Surely tho by fnatic and other large orgs openly supporting boycotts of the ESWC and raising awareness of the sports washing that it’ll have some effect on the tournament? And I did say I wouldn’t want them to be a part of ESL. And if there are alternatives then to take them.

Loading...@nebukuro It’s a strong gesture of solidarity to those affected by the human rights abuses committed by the Saudi regime. It sends a message that if a large org like fnatic won’t stand for this blatant sports washing then maybe other orgs would be emboldened to follow suit. And yes in an ideal world fnatic doesn’t partake in ESL or anything of the sort owned by the Saudi regime. If there are alternatives then I think they should take them.

Loading...@nebukuro I don’t watch anything ESL related or CS related anyways. Not participating sends a message that sports washing isn’t welcome in esports and should be shunned and shamed whenever presented. I’d rather orgs take a hit to their pockets than to their morals.
