FNATIC CS2 Roster Update

After careful consideration, we're happy to announce the new stage of our roster rebuild with the introduction of 3 new starting players.

Our starting CS roster ahead of Elisa Masters consists of:

Matúš "MATYS" Šimko

Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro

Can "kyuubii" Ali

Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson

Aurélien "afro" Drapier

Jamie 'keita' Hall - Coach

We're excited to see bodyy lead the team as the IGL, bringing in a new approach to our strategies. His incredible experience across the board and his experience working with Afro should be exciting to see as time progresses.

As a rising prospect, many of you may not be surprised to know that we're bringing Matys on to the main roster. Being an incredible rifler with an exciting future ahead, he has gained the attention of many and with good reason.

Finally, the introduction of Kyuubii may be a surprise to some. We really went in to finding a formidable young and upcoming rifler who has a real hunger to prove his mettle. We're excited to see him represent the Black and Orange and see what he can bring to the server.

We want to also give a massive thank you to Sampi, Falcons and Sangal for making this transition smooth and swift.

It hasn't been an easy road with CS so far, but with the introduction of these 3 new members we're confident in having built the foundation for our return to top tier CS, and plan to collect a few trophies along the way.

We know you may have some questions regarding the roster moves, so be sure to head to ask questions below and have them answered by our CGO Patrik "cArn" Sättermon, amongst others within our PG team!

But I still have an open question: ***Will there be a coaching change anytime soon?*** There was an announcement that keita is extending his contract for 1 year in early January this year. What's in store for us at the end of December/beginning of January? I'm not pro-player, but I and my fan mates have questions about the tactical aspect.

Loading...How long term are the goals for the team? Is making the RMR closed qualifier, and then hopefully the RMR too, the main goal, or is it more long term? (Eg establishing an isch top 10 status so that you avoid having to go through online quali hell for every tournament in 2025 and onwards when partnerships are lost) Glhf

Loading...@pontus767 Hey Pontus, We're under no illusions when it comes to the road ahead for cs2 and where we are currently positioned in the market. Considerations are taken now with a long term time horizon for counterstrike at fnatic, in order to reclaim relevancy we have to build an exciting project to attract talent. A big part of that is signing marquee/franchise players or developing new ones. In terms of goals there are no binary tournament qualifications/finishes set out. Rather ensure player management, acquisitions and coaching are of a standard which will ultimately garner the results as a byproduct. #AlwaysFnatic 🖤🧡

Loading...@magrob We don't sign players on such short-term contracts unless it's a stand-in arrangement. We think making investments into young players, that are trending really well in CS2 makes a lot of sense for the long term.

Loading...@Orfeas I don’t know the players but from what I’ve gathered, Matys and Kyuubi are both young talents with high skill. Bodyy used to be on the same team as Afro so previous synergy. Keeping Krimz and Afro here as 2 older more experienced players (Krimz especially), with a couple of young talents makes sense on paper. As for whether either of the young will be like signing the next Monesey remains to be seen but it’s a better strategy than taking old names that have probably past their prime. And I mean no disrespect to Roej or Dexter but it was plain to see they weren’t quite good enough for top 10 competition.

Loading...@Sextiz Matys is an aggressive player on both CT and T side, always looking to create space and find timings when he can, alongside bodyy their appetite for risk will hopefully be complementaey and offset the departure of roej who was your atypical entry. Then Kyuubii having had more passive roles in his previous rosters, being 18 and showing signs of being very capable in many departments is exciting. A good mix of space creators and closers. Let's see how things go. #AlwaysFnatic

Loading...@Lars89 Building a one country roster massively limits potential in the future. We just won’t go back to it. The pieces we pulled together for our new roster are young and hungry from many countries, this is how we do in all other games and how we reached successes there.

Loading...@finglelpuppl @Enjoi I understand and I’ve been following the developments but it’s like buying a new office for your company when you know you’re declaring bankruptcy tomorrow. Point is they could have kept Neo’s original contract as a temp, but they decided to give him a permanent role. It seems that Faze don’t even know what their future looks like, so why would they give a team a cheap buyout based on rumours?
